How To Become A Motivational Speaker
61How I became a Motivational Speaker
I started when I was senior in high school, one of my special ed. teachers asked me to help her with a presentation that she was giving at community college. The class was for senior year therapists and I presented a ten minute presentation, with a question and answer session at the end. After it was over, people were giving my teacher really good responses to my presentation.
When I started at Metropolitan State College of Denver, I had to take a Speech course for my basic prerequisite. I received a A in the course, so when it was time for me to declare a major. I studied Speech Communications, with a emphasis in communications theory.
The last two years, has been hard on the Motivational Speaking Business due to budget cuts. I use to have three local high schools, who would have me speak a few times a year. Even though, business has been slow; I don't regret my decision, because when I do give a presentation, my feedback from my audiences are so rewarding! I've changed people lives, just by being open and honest!

Motivational speaking is a gift. School and courses can teach you about leadership and influence but the great motivational speakers, know how to convey a message to a group or crowd by using personal scenarios as their example. Great leaders are motivational speakers because they understand their demographic of people they speak too. It is a gift! Written communication and verbal communication are the two most powerful tools of influence!
